Learn the fundamentals of linocut printing by hand in this two-day workshop with instructor Jasper Alexander.

Designed for beginner printmakers and the folks pulling prints at their kitchen tables, this workshop teaches the linocut printing fundamentals while encouraging confidence through exploration.
On day one, we’ll learn how to prepare our blocks, transfer images, and carve linoleum safely. Please bring an image suitable for a postcard sized (4x6) single-color print.
On day two, we’ll explore printing our blocks onto a variety of papers, discuss how to determine papers suitable for printing by hand, learn proper inking technique, and experiment using a wide variety of tools to burnish including (but not limited to) spoons, ball-baring barens, bone folders, and a lever press.
All supplies & tools provided - $25 supply fee is included in the cost of this workshop. Attendees are welcome to bring their own carving tools if they prefer.
This workshop will be held in the cozy studio-space of Waterway Arts and enrollment is capped at 5 students maximum.
Attendees can expect to leave with a small edition of hand-pulled prints, their carved linoleum block, and the skills & confidence to pull gorgeous prints at home!
